A somewhat dramatic thing happened a few months ago that left such an impression on Peter that he has now become obsessed with eggs. It is only now that I am able to talk about the incident with a bit of humor instead of downright frustration and that is only because it resulted in a new quirky obsession for our little 2 year old.
One morning I found Peter had figured out how to open the refrigerator door and had climbed up to reach the eggs. Every last one of them was broken and egg yolks were everywhere. He also had a taste of them as his mouth was smeared with egg too. I lost it! Fortunately, Grandma Barb walked into the disaster as I was freaking out and graciously allowed me to leave for a "mommy time out" and cleaned up the mess (Thanks again, Grandma). In case you're curious what you should do if you discovered your child has eaten raw eggs, the doctor's office said nothing terrible would happen (maybe a tummy ache or diarrhea) and to consider it their protein intake for the day.
Well, Peter had never seen me freak out like that (me too, Peter) and he kept apologizing to me by saying "No eating eggs. No eating eggs." Except ever since, he has been obsessed with eggs. For example, He found some shape and sort eggs at a toy store that he wanted to buy with his birthday money. He plays with them constantly! Refer to the picture above that I discovered when cleaning up yesterday. Play eggs in the coffee pot and in both pans on the stove! He also always wants to eat eggs. Its the first thing he sleepily requests upon waking up each morning. "Scramble Eggs, Pwease." And he always wants to bake or cook things so he can see us crack the eggs.
However, whenever anyone who knows about the Peter and the eggs story asks him about it, he replies "No eating eggs." Apparently Uncle Tom and Aunt Julie knew about this "interest" and sent the kids a game for Christmas called Mr. Scrambles, a talking eggs that you can play different games with such as "Don't Drop the Egg," "Egg Race," and "Mr. Scrambles Says." It's super cute and Peter has adopted him as his new friend (Thanks, Tommy and Julie!).

Love that story! Glad you can see the humor in it now, too. This week I walked into the kitchen after hearing, "Isaac, you are in SO MUCH TROUBLE" and saw the entire box of baking soda spread across the floor. Isaac was totaly covered in it, too. My first thought was to go and get the camera! I ended up not taking the picture (I was in the middle of nursing) and scolded him loudly enough that he knows not to do it again. After it was cleaned up I chuckeld a bit. It seems like all two year old go through this stage!
