Peter's New Eyes

Peter had his vision checked last week on the recommendation of the Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist he saw for his snoring and headaches a couple of months ago. The ENT doc said he had large adenoids that were causing the snoring and that the headaches could be a result of poor vision. At the eye doctor they said he has astigmatism in his right eye. This could eventually lead to a lazy eye because the brain is working so hard to see in that eye, that it might eventually shut down signals to it altogether. The way to prevent that from happening is to correct his vision now to strengthen his eye and maybe he won't have to have vision correction forever.

He went yesterday to pick up his new glasses and he was really excited about them. He and dad picked them out at the office last week. He's still learning how to get used to them, but he's doing great and looks so cute in them! He usually touches them a lot, but has not been taking them off as much as I thought he would. The biggest challenge is mealtime because they have ended up with food on them (probably from all the touching). Here are some pictures of his new look.

I got glasses when I was five for the same reason, though maybe it was "too late" because it never corrected my problem. Hopefully it will help Peter. And he looks so handsome in the glasses!!
