Snowman Building 101
Apparently this mommy, who was raised in the South, had to learn a snowman building lesson last week. Not all snow is snowman building snow. We came across a snowman building kit that someone had given the kids a few years ago (before they could really build one). It has all the makings of a snowman (eyes, carrot nose, pipe, buttons, and a hat) that can be used over and over again since they are made of wood. Well, the boys immediately demanded we go outside and build one. We were all quite disappointed to learn that the snow outside was too dry to do anything with but kick or shovel around and our snowman attempt was a big powder mound. I thought I was doing something wrong and that you should always be able to build a snowman if you have snow! A quick phone call to daddy at work in a desperate attempt to correct my ineptitude and we learned that we needed FRESH, WET snow! We didn't have to wait long and the next day we got a fresh batch of snow. Fortunately, Grandma York agreed to let Jacob and Peter come build him at her house and give mommy a little nap time break. Below are the fruits of their labor!

P.S. I'm pretty sure Peter has plastic bags over his gloves to keep the snow from getting in. Grandma York's "plastic bag makeshift snow boots" are infamous from Brian and his siblings' childhood days.
