Jacob's First Visit to the Dentist!

I can't believe it! Ever since I saw the page in the baby record book to record their first visit to the dentist, I've been wondering when I'd get to fill it in and if it would be a good memory or a bad one. Having just filled out this page, I realize that Jacob's baby record book will be completed before I know it. He's getting so big. After 3 years and two more kids the time has gone by fast yet slow at the same time because Jacob still seems little in a lot of ways too. He's our oldest and therefore most challenging because we are constantly figuring out how to parent with each new "stage" he goes through.

The current "stage" is not dealing with transitions well. So the completely new and most times awkward experience of letting someone poke around at your teeth at the dentist's office could be a potential disaster.

It wasn't, according to Brian who accompanied Jacob on his first dentist visit today. I think Jacob really enjoyed the one on one time with Dad to do a big boy thing. He is so proud of himself. Personally, I can't believe that he let them actually clean his teeth with the vibrating brushy thingy. But he did and we've got pictures (courtesy of Brian knowing that I would want to see them since it wasn't possible for us both to be there). Thanks daddy! Hopefully, this will start a lifelong positive relationship with going to the dentist, but who am I kidding? Don't count your chickens before they hatch, right? Next time could be a whole different ballgame. Thankfully, this one was a success!
