Jacob's First Day of Preschool

Jacob started preschool! He was so excited. For weeks we've been talking about it to get ready and explain what it would be like. Often I would find him practicing by putting on his Wall -E backpack and pretending to ride the bus to school. He doesn't seem too disappointed that he doesn't ride a bus to school though, because he's so in awe of the older kids that do the "safety patrol" curbside drop-off and pick-up (in addition to the teachers). He was all business when we picked him up the first day. I got out of the car to help open the door and Jacob put up his hand to stop me and said, "No, Mom. You have to wait for the safety patrol."

I thought the first day would be really hard for Peter to say goodbye to his buddy, but it worked out really well. Peter, Leah, and I walked Jacob to his classroom the first morning so Peter got to see where Jacob would be. The teacher even let Peter color a picture at the table. When he was walking around, I heard Peter tell the teacher, "This will be my classroom next year." I was relieved to hear that and I think the transition is going great for all of us so far.
