Peter Goes to the Dentist

Peter went to the dentist for the first time today. I am pretty sure that there is no kid in the world as excited to go to the dentist as Peter was for this visit! He's been very thorough when brushing his teeth in preparation and last night he went to bed rather eagerly. Jacob has made two trips so far and Peter cried the whole way home because he didn't get to go too. But today Peter caught up with Jacob in this regard, at least.

Peter also had his choice today of whether Brian or I went back with him and he chose dad. At Jacob's first visit, the situation was such that Brian took him to the appointment. So apparently the tradition is becoming that Brian takes them to their first dentist visit. That's totally fine with me. I think it's good for us to have particular events or traditions that we do individually with the kids. Now Peter is familiar with the dentist's tools and had his teeth "painted" with a paintbrush (fluoride treatment). He also chose chocolate flavored polish to have his teeth cleaned. How very taboo!
